May 21, 2017 Morning Worship

Members and regular guests of Vine Street Baptist Church were delighted to see the Duncan’s visit this weekend.  Before they spoke during the service, the gathered heard scripture, sang and prayed.

The service began with Deacon Joe Gross reading Psalm 54 and saying a prayer. Worship Leaders Jacob and Jaime Hatcher led the congregation in song:

  • Onward Christian Soldier
  • A Mighty Fortress is Our God

Jacob welcomed everyone to take take to greet one another, then after some time passed, Associate Pastor Brandon Saunders gave some announcements:

  • Person of Jesus study continues tonight.
  • Ladies bible study will meet this Tuesday
  • Camp fundraising goal is met. People can continue to give to help offset other expenses not originally part of the original campaign.

Brandon invited Corey and Jenni Duncan to the platform, and the two gave a ministry update.  Being a part of the organization Hungry For Life they bring together churches in foreign countries needing help with churches wanting to provide that help through mission trips.  The Duncan’s are currently focused on Guatemala and have been there several times already, and will be going a few more times this summer. The Duncan’s expressed their sincere appreciation and gratitude for the support, both financially and through prayer, provided by Vine Street Baptist Church.  Brandon gave a pastoral prayer over the Duncan’s and the ministry they do.

The ushers collected the offering while everyone sang more.

  • Lord I Need You
  • Trust and Obey

Member Justin Francis read today’s sermon text, then Senior Pastor Spencer Harmon delivered the message.

The sermon continues the verse by verse series through 2 Corinthians. The full audio can be heard by clicking on the date link below, or right-click and select “Save As” to save the file to your computer.  Click on the scripture reference to follow along with the reading.
