December 17, 2017 Morning Worship

Today’s service began with an Advent reading from Psalm 146,  Josh McCarthy read this scripture, said a prayer and then lit the Advent candle.  Nolan Hodge led today’s songs, and led the gathered in singing O Come All Ye Faithful in an opening song. He welcomed guests and visitors to today’s service, then everyone spent a few minutes greeting one another.

  • Josh returned to the microphone and delivered a few announcements.
  • Person of Jesus study, tonight at 6pm, will be led by Justin Francis
  • Woman’s Bible Study meet this Tuesday.  FMI – Taylor Harmon
  • Christmas Eve Service next Sunday, 6pm.  A dessert fellowship will follow.

Senior Pastor Spencer Harmon came up and called Justin Francis to join him.  Spencer introduced Justin as the church’s new Youth Pastor, then said a prayer for him and the rest of today’s service.

While the offering was collected, Nolan spoke about the next song’s message, then asked the congregation to stnad and sing.

Alan John’s read today’s sermon scripture, and then Spencer delivered today’s message.

After the sermon, everyone stood and sang Come Thou Long Expected Jesus during a time of reflection.

Josh closed the service with an invitation for anyone to speak to a pastor after the service about church membership, becoming a Christian, or to discuss today’s sermon. He read a closing scripture and then dismissed the group.
