Christmas is coming …
The goose is getting fat / Please to put a penny in an old man’s hat / If you haven’t got a penny a ha’penny will do / If you haven’t got a ha’penny, God bless you.
Every little bit helps, and helping in little bits along the way helps tremendously. Now is the perfect time of the year to start thinking about VSBC’s Christmas giving activities. VSBC will again participate in these annual events:
- Highland Community Ministries (HCM) Christmas Families – We will “adopt” five (5) families who otherwise wouldn’t have a nice Christmas for their families. We will raise $1000 — $200 per family (half for groceries and half for gifts). Volunteers will meet the families to determine individual needs and to share our love and concern for them. The Waters/Cull families will once again do most of the grocery shopping, which always lets the grocery money go extremely far. Begin saving your money and turning it in during the offering time, designating your gift to Christmas Families.
- Samaritan’s Purse Opperation Christmas Child (OCC) – Shoeboxes filled with school-type supplies, small gifts and toys, and perhaps a bar of soap and a wash cloth are wrapped with pretty Christmas paper and sent all over the world. Before they are sent, OCC will include a children’s Bible in the native language of the people where the boxes will go. Right now is an excellent time to purchase supplies on the cheep because of all the back to school sales. See Pat at church for more information.
For more information about either program, please feel free to contact VSBC.
